What is the proper way to use an elliptical machine?

carly (: asked:

I am fourteen next week. I use my elliptical machine about 15-30 minutes about every other day. I just started this routine (before, I used it like once every two weeks) this week and my right knee bothers me when I kneel down, squat or get on my knees. I heard this is because I am not using the machine properly (my foot doesn’t move, but my heel goes up when my leg slides back.) Sooo, do you use it properly?

And my machine isn’t big. It’s actually pretty narrow and small.

    Create a video blog…instantly.

I do the exact same thing and I’ve never had any problems with my body. I have pains from the treadmill though, but I do the same thing, I don’t think it’s bad.

knee pain will happen. You need stretch REALLY well before you exercise. That’ll help a lot and you won’t feel the pain as much. Also, your feet have to stay firmly planted. Your heel should not bounce. The fact that your heel moves up and down means that you’re messing up the balance in the foot.

Move your legs with machine not separate.
