Weslo C8 Cadence Treadmill Review
The Weslo C8 treadmill is made by Icon Health and Fitness and shares quite a bit in common with the Proform 3.6 also made by Icon.
The C8 is a much better model in our view to their M5 and M6 treadmills which have ‘cheap’ written all over them.
Whilst the C8 is classed as a budget machine it has a number of features that distance it from others in this price bracket.
Firstly, the 2HP motor is not bad at all and can easily manage the higher speeds and only gets a little noisy when it reaches its top speed of 10mph. It also has a motorised incline of up to 10%. This means you just press a button on the console to change the setting instead of having to get off and do it yourself!
The combination of the 10mph and 10% incline means the C8 can deliver quite a challenging workout. If you can manage 5 minutes on the top settings you’re well on your way to becoming a very fit nut! The deck is a reasonable size and most runners should feel comfortable enough on it, although if you’re over 6′ 2″ it will feel a bit short for your stride length. The cushioning system is quite effective (again for a budget model) and it does help to reduce the impact on your knees.
It does only come with 4 pre-set programmes which is a bit limited but then again it’s not bad for the price. Pre-sets alter the speed and incline settings and can replicate hill runs or interval training (high to low speeds) without you having to keep pressing the buttons.
You can measure your pulse using the handles which isn’t as good or accurate as a chest strap, but then you’d pay another few hundred pounds to get this feature.
Conclusion:
The Weslo C8 is a good machine – for the price. It has many useful features that don’t appear on other budget models plus a reasonably comfortable deck. We did find it a bit awkward to assemble but once done you’ve got a pretty useful treadmill for a very good price that should get you fit.
