Exercise With Elliptical Equipment
5 Reasons to Exercise With Elliptical Equipment
Elliptical equipment is a type of cross training exercise machine. This type of exercise machine differs from the rest
such as treadmills because it involves the overall body movement instead of just working out the upper or lower part of the body alone. There are mainly self powered and electrically powered machines – this provides artificial resistance and stress load for users to work out.
1. When a user chose an elliptical equipment to do workout it involves the entire body to work. This ensures even stress load on the body and it encourages cardiovascular exercise compared to machines used to shape up a certain part of the body, hence a healthier and more complete approach than the usual treadmill.
2. With a cross training machine like this, stress load can be configured to achieve a better proportion between the upper and lower body movements. Instead of riding a stationary bike that exercises the lower body, arm swinging movements can also be used to drive the machine making it a balanced workout machine.
3. Working out using elliptical equipment also gives flexible workout movements. With the overall exercise concept, users can also choose to drive the machine the other way round to allow stress on reverse movements. It allows the workout of muscles used such as the tibialis anterior during walking backwards.
4. This type of machine has a lower impact compared to other exercise machines. The movement style is a natural flow of body movement hence giving a lower impact to a human body. With it’s slower pace of working out style, it is suitable for the elderly and children too compared to treadmills and bikes.
5. With the slower pace of the equipment, it’s natural flow design barely produces noise. This is great for people staying in apartment or condominium units because other exercising machines produces a lot of noise while operating – add the stomping noise of your feet while running on a treadmill then it will stir some complaints from the unit below yours.
Lastly, take in account of these few good reasons while buying elliptical equipment. Think of the many extras you get if compared to other stationary machines such as treadmills and bikes. A good cross training machine is always the smarter choice of home exercising machine – working out for a healthier you effectively.

Treadmill vs. Elliptical vs. Recumbent Bike?
I know that whether you walk or run a certain distance (let’s use 3 miles) that the calorie burn is the same. If you run the 3 miles, you just get done quicker. My question is this: Is 3 miles walking or running the be the same calorie burn as 3 miles on the treadmill? The Elliptical? A recumbent bike?

How To Buy Elliptical Machines
trainer. Choosing an elliptical machine is much more complex than just trying one out and deciding to buy it right on the spot. In the history of fitness and aerobics, elliptical machines are the only aerobic product to have made a major breakthrough.
Many of the consumer models found in sporting good and big-box retail stores can only handle users who weigh no more than 115 kg (250 lbs), and they cost about $1000 (US) or less. Buying an elliptical machine online can be difficult if you haven’t spent time comparing the reviews and ratings. The best way to determine which elliptical machine is the best fit for you is by making a list of all the features that you need to have in a trainer.
It is possible to find low cost or cheap elliptical machines with a little bit of research online. Consumer Reports magazine is just one good place to compare features and costs of elliptical machines, you’ll want to see what they report. Elliptical trainers use both the arms and the legs, making it a cross trainer, in a smooth and natural motion. An elliptical workout burns about 13 calories in a minute. Elliptical machines are proven to provide the best workouts for the cardiovascular system.
Elliptical machines give a weight resistant workout which is important because weight resistant workouts will burn calories faster and more efficiently. The elliptical trainer uses every one of the muscles of the lower leg. It’s best to look for an elliptical trainer that has a many different programs that are preset into the computer.

Weslo C8 Cadence Treadmill Review
The Weslo C8 treadmill is made by Icon Health and Fitness and shares quite a bit in common with the Proform 3.6 also made by Icon.
The C8 is a much better model in our view to their M5 and M6 treadmills which have ‘cheap’ written all over them.
Whilst the C8 is classed as a budget machine it has a number of features that distance it from others in this price bracket.
Firstly, the 2HP motor is not bad at all and can easily manage the higher speeds and only gets a little noisy when it reaches its top speed of 10mph. It also has a motorised incline of up to 10%. This means you just press a button on the console to change the setting instead of having to get off and do it yourself!
The combination of the 10mph and 10% incline means the C8 can deliver quite a challenging workout. If you can manage 5 minutes on the top settings you’re well on your way to becoming a very fit nut! The deck is a reasonable size and most runners should feel comfortable enough on it, although if you’re over 6′ 2″ it will feel a bit short for your stride length. The cushioning system is quite effective (again for a budget model) and it does help to reduce the impact on your knees.
It does only come with 4 pre-set programmes which is a bit limited but then again it’s not bad for the price. Pre-sets alter the speed and incline settings and can replicate hill runs or interval training (high to low speeds) without you having to keep pressing the buttons.
You can measure your pulse using the handles which isn’t as good or accurate as a chest strap, but then you’d pay another few hundred pounds to get this feature.
Conclusion:
The Weslo C8 is a good machine – for the price. It has many useful features that don’t appear on other budget models plus a reasonably comfortable deck. We did find it a bit awkward to assemble but once done you’ve got a pretty useful treadmill for a very good price that should get you fit.
