TRUE Strider elliptical accurate results?

king of questions asked:

Every time I use a TRUE Strider elliptical cross trainer machine at the gym, the machine claims to burn 918 calories in just 30 minutes and walk a distance of 8.5 miles with a maximum heart rate of 39.I am skeptical to accept this because it seems to good to be true. Is it possible the company has rigged these models so that the user thinks they are getting more of a calorie burn than they actually are? experience and insight appreciated. thanks =]

Elliptical vs Treadmill: Which Burns more Calories?

I use the treadmill for 30 mins at a speed of 4.6… I feel the burn but don’t think I’m burning enough calories. Should I try the elliptical?

is using the cross trainer in the gym an effective way of fat burning and increasing my fitness levels?

I have tried running and step machines and cycling etc, but the cross trainer is the only machine i really enjoy using in the gym. I’m worried that its not actually doing much for me though. What is the best way of burning up calories and getting fitter in the the gym?

treadmill vs. elliptical.please help?

jessy asked:

i was set on getting a manuel treadmill(i don’t have the money for an expensive one with the motor). then i started to read about elliptical machines. they sound really good too, and i found some reasonably priced ones.
i read that elliptical machines are easier, is this true? and i heard that they burn more calories in the same amount of time as a treadmill does, but then i also heard that they are better for building muscles than shedding fat. and how effective are manuel treadmills? i read that they are good, because it’s closer to actually running than the motorized ones are. i really need help on this one!
anyone have any input? it’d be greatly appreciated!
also….please don’t suggest going outside for a jog. first of all i HATE the cold, and i really don’t like people looking at me when i work out.
