Elliptical glider for a pregnant woman?

My wife is 3 months pregnant and we just bought a Nordic track audiostride 800 elliptical glider (great machine by the way) I was wondering if anyone has had any experience to know if this would be an ideal work out for a pregnant woman its low impact but I’m no doctor, and we have not been able to ask our doctor yet. Has anyone been told that a pregnant woman should not exercise on a elliptical glider?
Me and my wife both exercised on a fairly normal basis we had gym memberships. We just recently move to a more expensive place which has a finished basement. I have been lifting weights down there but we just got the elliptical. I wouldn’t say she is out of shape to begin with. She could do 45 mins on the elliptical before with no problem.

The only thing I have been told is not to start any new exercise program without your dr.s consent.
Oh and my dr says swimming is the absolute best exercise for pregnancy.

No…I did. Its fine. If she keeps exercising, she could potentially have a easier labor and she’ll loose the weight quicker.

No but if she wasn’t doing it before pregnancy, they usually recommend she not do it now. If she was working out before pregnancy, I don’t see why not. The only thing is as she gets bigger, her balance will be off so you have to be careful on all the machines (like treadmills, etc.)

that would be a great exercise for her!

It depends on her current fitness level. If she’s already in exceptional shape, it should be fine for now. If she hasn’t exercised in 2 years, she needs to stay away from it. If she’s an occasional exerciser then it’s probably too much.

As for how far into her pregnancy she can use it would be up to her doctor. Again, that would depend on how well the pregnancy is going and her current fitness level.

    Good luck and congrats!

    EDIT–
Then I would say it’s okay for now. As her belly gets bigger, she should consult with her doctor about it. The bigger your belly, the more your center of gravity shifts, so to be safe, she needs to check in with her doctor about her exercise routine at that point.

It’s really important to know her regime before she was pregnant and not do much more than she did for activity. If the dr says it is okay then I would keep it at a 0 intensity and just work out for the movement but not to push yourself for any type of cardio or weight loss. Other than that ellipticals are a great machine, especially when the baby’s born! Let her know that walking is especially great, it will help with labor and with losing the weight afterwards.
